Degustation VINOTTI 94: Die 3er Serie Crozes-Hermitage wird packender, vielschichiger und lagerfähiger von Wein zu Wein (Signature, La Chasseliere, Terre d’Arce). Toller konzentrieter Wein, schwarze Früchte, schwarze Oliven, schwarze Schokolade und tolle Cremigkeit. Tief und vielschichtig. Ein Traum!
Degustation Parker: P 91-94 – I tasted two components of the 2018 Crozes Hermitage Terres d’Arce. A whole-cluster-fermented barrel boasted tarry, black olive and purple raspberry notes, ample weight and an intriguingly dusty finish lined with licorice. The other, from Larnage, was slightly more vibrant and cassis-tinged, dusty and tannic but ripe and long. Together, they should make for another top vintage of this cuvée. Expect it to be bottled early in 2020.
Hail hit Domaine Michelas St Jemms hard in 2019, devastating 75 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage. Thankfully, the estate’s vineyards in Cornas and Saint-Joseph were spared, and the excellent 2017 and 2018 wines are still in the pipeline. “For us, we have two good years—’17 and ’18,” said Sylvie Chevrol. “But ’18 is more fruity, with elegant aromas and velvety tannins.” The domaine has had an ongoing initiative for biodiversity in the vineyards and surrounding lands, but this year, the estate started converting to organic viticulture.
